  6. Following Louis Bonaparte's abdication as king of Holland and Napoleon's resulting decision to annexe the country to the Empire, Oudinot was given the task of managing the occupation. It was during his time in Holland that he learnt of the death of his wife, with whom he had seven children.

  7. The French campaign came next. On April 4, 1814, Oudinot was among those who asked the Emperor to abdicate. He then rallied to Louis XVIII, who gave him the command of the former Imperial guard. He was one of the few marshals not to rally to Napoleon during the Hundred Days.
