Nikolaos Plastiras played a significant role in Greece’s military rule and politics in the 20th century. He was born in the Karditsan village of Vounesi, today called Morfovouni, on November 4, 1883. Plastiras’ parents were born and raised in the town of Morfovouni in the Agrafa mountains of southwest Thessaly.
