Nikolaus Krell, zeitgenössisch auch Nicolaus Crell, (* um 1550 in Leipzig; † 9. Oktober 1601 in Dresden) war ab 1589 der calvinistische Kanzler des Kurfürsten Christian I. von Sachsen . Leben. Nach der Ausbildung an der Fürstenschule in Grimma, wo er vom 27. Juli 1568 bis 1. März 1571 Schüler war, studierte er in Leipzig.
C. besuchte die Fürstenschule zu Grimma, später die Universität Leipzig, wo er 1572 Baccalaureus und 1575 Magister der Jurisprudenz wurde. Der fleißige und geistig regsame Student erwarb 1577 die Doktorwürde - unbekannt an welcher Universität - und beendete seine humanistischen Studien mit einer Bildungsreise nach der Schweiz und Frankreich.

KRELL (CRELL), NIKOLAU Saxon statesman and religious reformer; b. in Leipsic c. 1550; beheaded at Dresden Oct. 9, 1601. He was the son of the jurist Wolfgang Krell, and studied at the Royal School at Grimma and at the University of Leipsic (B.A., 1572; M.A., 1575), concluding his education with a journey to Switzerland and France.
( 1551 Leipzig – 9. Oktober 1601 ) Nikolaus Krell war sächsischer Kanzler. Er besuchte die Landesschule Grimma und studierte von 1571 bis 1576 in Leipzig die Rechte. Seit 1580 wirkte er als Hof- und Justizrat in Dresden. 1584 wurde er zum Erzieher des Prinzen Christian berufen, 1586 zum Geheimen Rat und am 25. Juni 1589 zum Kanzler ernannt.
