Nils Svantesson Sture (b. 20 July 1543 at Hörningsholm Castle, d. 24 May 1567 in the Sture Murders at Uppsala Castle) was a Swedish diplomat and soldier during the reign of Erik XIV of Sweden. He was the son of Svante Stensson Sture and Märta ("King Martha") Erikdotter Leijonhufvud .
Although Erik distrusted the nobility as a whole, he became particularly suspicious of Nils Svantesson Sture, who was arrested and tried. [2] . Despite his many illegitimate children, Erik lacked a legal heir and feared that Sture might claim his throne. [2] .

18 de oct. de 2004 · Nils Svantesson Sture föddes den 20 juni 1543 på Hörningsholm i Södermanland som son till greve Svante Stensson Sture (26) och Märta Eriksdotter Leijonhufvud (23) (kung Märta). Nils var äldre bror till Erik Sture. England. Sjutton år gammal sändes Nils till England för att, för kung Erik XIV räkning fria till drottning Elisabeth.
Erik soon became suspicious of Svante and his eldest son Nils Svantesson, whom he believed was plotting to usurp the throne, and in 1567 he had them arrested along with Nils's brother Erik and then personally killed all three of them in a violent outburst known to history as the Sture Murders.
