Hace 3 días · There is a statue standing outside parliament that has always bothered me; it is of Oliver Cromwell. He may well be regarded in some English quarters as the parliamentary hero who ended monarchical autocracy, but I am sure our Irish cousins look on him as the devil’s right hand man and the many Irish who live in London and may even work in Westminster would share that view.

If it’s any consolation, when Charles the 2nd was restored to the thrown he had Cromwell dug up and posthumously executed, his head chopped off and put on a spike for over twenty years. However this also meant the royals had been restored which is like choosing a favourite out of Freddie v Jason.
