Oliver Cromwell ( Huntingdon, Inglaterra; 25 de abril de 1599 - Londres, 3 de septiembre de 1658) fue un líder político y militar inglés. Convirtió a Inglaterra en una república denominada Mancomunidad de Inglaterra (en inglés, Commonwealth of England ).
Fue el principal protagonista de la Guerras Civiles inglesas (1642-1649) que llevarían a la ejecución del rey Carlos I y a la instauración de la República (1649-1653) y del Protectorado (1653-1658), durante el cual ejerció un poder absoluto como lord protector de Inglaterra.
