Olympe de Gouges es el pseudónimo de Marie Gouze. Nació en Montauban, el 7 de mayo de 1748 en la región de Midi-Pyrénées, Francia. Fue una escritora francesa y luchadora por la igualdad, contra la esclavitud y a favor de los derechos de las mujeres, autora de la Declaración de los Derechos de la Mujer y de la Ciudadana, de 1791 .

Her most famous work was the "Declaration of the Rights of Woman and the Female Citizen," the publication of which resulted in Gouges being tried and convicted of treason.
