13 de feb. de 2024 · One From the Heart is a seriously underrated picture by one of America’s most important filmmakers. Audiences in 1982 perhaps weren’t ready for a film that foregrounded emotion, aesthetic and atmosphere before plot and characters, but seven years on from La La Land , I think the world will be far more receptive.
It's Sunrise, True Heart Susie, Lonesome and more. Filmed entirely on Coppola's Zoetrope Studio (at such tremendous expense that bankrupted it and him, as usual), the camera glides from one reality to another, the world not broken by jagged edits or ruptures, but through lighting, shifting into and out of shadow, elementally melancholy blues and electric reds.
