James the Great [a] (died AD 44) was one of the Twelve Apostles of Jesus. According to the New Testament, he was the second of the apostles to die (after Judas Iscariot ), and the first to be martyred. [1] Saint James is the patron saint of Spain and, according to tradition, his remains are held in Santiago de Compostela in Galicia .
Fort James is a fort at the entrance to the harbour of St. John's, Antigua and Barbuda. The fort was built to guard St. John's harbour and is one of the many forts built by the British in the 18th century. Fear of a French invasion prompted the construction.
