Whether you think it’s credible or not, he’s doing something I think is on a scale no other actor has done before or since. The closest you’ll get to Pacino’s performance is what Paul Muni did in the 1932 Scarface. It was very, very big.

I thought I had seen this film before but I was confused with Heaven Can Wait which also featured Claude Rains as a supernatural being. Paul Muni was excellent as was a very young Anne Baxter. The script was witty and a special mention to the lines “ people don’t like to vote for lunatics” “ I can’t say I’ve noticed.”
