As King Dom Pedro IV, he reigned briefly over Portugal, where he also became known as "the Liberator" as well as " the Soldier King ".

Hace 5 días · D. Pedro I ruled Brazil until 1831, when he abdicated in favor of his young son D. Pedro II, and returned to Portugal to aid his daughter D. Maria II (see below). D. Pedro II, being only 6 years old at the time of his coronation, had a regency established. The regency would rule until 1840, when the Emperor turned 14 years old.
