1 de may. de 2024 · Under Philip I, Landgrave of Hesse 1504-1567 it was secularised and used as a castle. This castle was replaced by a new one from 1606 to 1610 by Landgrave Moritz. The current Neoclassical Schloss Wilhelmshöhe was designed by architects Simon Louis du Ry and Heinrich Christoph Jussow from 1786 to 1798 for Landgrave William IX of Hesse.

From December 1539, Luther became involved in the designs of Philip I, Landgrave of Hesse to marry a lady-in-waiting of his wife, Christine of Saxony. Philip solicited the approval of Luther, Melanchthon, and Bucer, citing as a precedent the polygamy of the patriarchs.

Prince Philipp of Hesse became a particularly close friend of Hermann Göring, the future head of the Luftwaffe.

1 de may. de 2024 · He married Princess Maria Amalia Kettler of Courland on 21 May 1673, in Kassel, Hesse, Germany. They were the parents of at least 13 sons and 6 daughters. He died on 23 March 1730, in his hometown, at the age of 75, and was buried in Kassel, Hesse-Nassau, Prussia, Germany.
