Philip Sidney, 2nd Baron De L'Isle and Dudley DL (28 January 1828 – 17 February 1898) was an English Peer. Early life. Sidney was born in London, England on 28 January 1828. The 2nd Viscount De L'Isle, as Lord-Lieutenant of Kent, with the Queen in 2011. Viscount De L'Isle, of Penshurst in the County of Kent, is a title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom. It was created in 1956 for William Sidney, 6th Baron de L'Isle and Dudley, VC, KG, GCMG, GCVO (1909–1991).
Career. Sidney was an Officer in the Royal Horse Guards, gaining the rank of Lieutenant. Upon his father's death in March 1851, he succeeded as the 3rd Shelley-Sidney Baronets of Penshurst Place and the 2nd Baron De L'Isle and Dudley, of Penshurst in the County of Kent. Lord De L'Isle and Dudley served as a trustee of the National Portrait Gallery.

Her estates devolved upon the eldest son of this marriage, Sir John Shelley-Sidney (d. 1849), who took the surname Sidney in 1793 and was created a baronet in 1818. His son was raised to the peerage as Baron De L'Isle and Dudley in 1835. The 6th Baron was created Viscount De L’Isle in 1956.
