Pieter van Vollenhoven Jr. (born April 30, 1939) is the husband of Princess Margriet of the Netherlands and a member, by marriage, of the Dutch royal house . Early life and career. Van Vollenhoven was born in Schiedam, he is the second son of Pieter van Vollenhoven Sr. (1897–1977) and his wife Jacoba Gijsbertha Stuylingh de Lange (1906–1983).

Professor Van Vollenhoven is also Honorary Chair of the Community and Safety Association (in Dutch), an independent organisation that advises on safety issues. He has also occupied a number of international posts in the field of transport safety. Co-founder and a member of the European Transport Safety Council.
Pieter-Christiaan Michiel, Prince of Orange-Nassau, van Vollenhoven, was born in Nijmegen on 22 March 1972. The Prince has three brothers: Prince Maurits, born in 1968, Prince Bernhard, born in 1969, and Prince Floris, born in 1975.
