Friedrich August Eberhard, Prince of Württemberg was a royal Prussian Colonel General of the Cavalry with the rank of Generalfeldmarschall and Kommandierender General of the Guards Corps for more than 20 years. August was a member of the House of Württemberg and a Prince of Württemberg by birth.
Prince Frederick of Württemberg (German: Friedrich Karl August Prinz von Württemberg) (21 February 1808 – 9 May 1870) was a German prince from House of Württemberg, a general in the Army of Württemberg and the father of William II of Württemberg.

As a prince of the Royal House of Württemberg since 1830, August was one of the lords in the Württembergische Landstände, but never took part in their meetings. He was represented by other members of the chamber, the last one being Andreas Renner.
Prussian Field Marshall Prince August was the son of Prince Paul von Württemberg, the brother of King Wilhelm I, and Princess Charlotte von Sachsen-Altenburg. He began his military service at the age of 16 and had attained the rank of Rittmeister in the Kingdom of Württemberg's army by 1831, soon thereafter transferring to the Prussian Army.
