Hace 5 días · In 1913 Princess Viktoria was married to Ernest Augustus, duke of Brunswick and Lüneburg, great-grandson of the duke of Cumberland, son of George III of England. The wedding, attended by most of the crowned heads of Europe, took place shortly before the outbreak of World War I.

Hace 5 días · George Augustus was the only son of the German prince George Louis, elector of Hanover (King George I of Great Britain from 1714 to 1727), and Sophia Dorothea of Celle. He grew up in Hanover and married (1705) the beautiful and intelligent Caroline of Ansbach. Upon the accession of his father to the English throne he was designated prince of Wales.

Victoria didn’t want to be stuck with a lower title, so Parliament came up with the idea to define India as an Empire so she could be an Empress as well.
