17 de nov. de 2022 · Frederick was born to the Crown Prince Frederick William of Prussia in the Berlin City Palace in 1712. He was often beaten and humiliated by his father for his keen interest in arts and music, as his father considered these interests effeminate. In 1730, Frederick tried to escape his abusive father.
Frederick was the son of then-Crown Prince Frederick William of Prussia and his wife, Sophia Dorothea of Hanover. He was born sometime between 11 and 12 p.m. on 24 January 1712 in the Berlin Palace and was baptised with the single name Friedrich by Benjamin Ursinus von Bär on 31 January.
Prince Frederick William of Prussia (1831-88), known affectionately as ‘Fritz’, was the only son of William I, King of Prussia, Emperor of Germany, and Augusta, daughter of Charles Frederick, Grand Duke of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach. In 1858 he married Victoria, Princess Royal, the eldest daughter of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert.
