  5. Biography. Second son of Walrad IV of Waldeck-Eisenberg by Anna of Baden-Durlach. Field marshal in the service of the Emperor, he unsuccessfully withstood Turenne and Condé. Created Prince in 1682. He took part in the defence of Vienna against the Turks, 1683, beat Marechal d'Humières, 1689, but was himself beaten by Marechal de Luxembourg, 1690.
