The Princely House Order of Hohenzollern originated in 1841, [1] by joint decree of Prince Konstantin of Hohenzollern-Hechingen and Prince Karl Anton of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen. These two principalities in southern Germany were Catholic collateral lines of the House of Hohenzollern, cousins to the Protestant ruling house of Prussia .
She married Prince Emmanuel, Duke of Vendôme on 12 February 1896. They had four children. Princess Joséphine Marie of Belgium (30 November 1870 — 18 January 1871) she died at one month. Princess Joséphine Caroline of Belgium (18 October 1872 – 6 January 1958) she married Prince Karl Anton of Hohenzollern on 28 May 1894.

Joséphine Caroline married her maternal first cousin Prince Karl Anton of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen on 28 May 1894 in Brussels. He was the youngest son of her mother's oldest brother. Their relationship was described as a happy one. They lived in Namedy Castle on the Rhine which they had purchased in 1909.
Prince Karl Anton was married to Josephine Friederike Luise, Princess of Baden (1813–1900), daughter of Grand Duke Charles of Baden. They had six children.
