Prince Sigismund was born at the New Palace in Potsdam, Germany, in 1864 and known as "Sigi" to his family. He died from meningitis at the New Palace on 18 June 1866, aged twenty-one months. Less than four months after the deaths of his maternal aunt, Alice, Grand Duchess of Hesse and cousin, May, Waldemar became seriously ill with diphtheria and died in Berlin, Germany on 27 March 1879. He was buried in the royal mausoleum attached to the Friedenskirche at Potsdam, near the main altar and his elder brother Prince Sigismund of Prussia.
[citation needed] The newborn Prince immediately received the title Prince of Prussia with the style Royal Highness, and was baptised Heinrich Viktor Ludwig Friedrich in Kiel Castle on 15 March 1900. His older brothers were Prince Waldemar , a namesake of his uncle , and Prince Sigismund , a namesake of his other deceased uncle .

Princess Charlotte of Prussia, Duchess of Saxe-Meiningen. (1860-1919), Second wife of Bernhard III, Duke of Saxe-Meiningen; daughter of Frederick III, Emperor of Germany and granddaughter of Queen Victoria. Queen Sophie of Greece (née Princess Sophie of Prussia) with her sisters, Princess Victoria and Charlotte.
Prince Heinrich died of throat cancer just as his father had, in Hemmelmark on April 20, 1929. A Royal Family Curse. Heinrich’s son, Prince Waldemar of Prussia, was a Haemophiliac, as were Waldemar’s first cousin Tsarevich Alexei of Russia, his uncle Prince Friedrich of Hesse and his youngest brother.
