Princess Patricia — "Patsy" to family and friends — was born on 17 March 1886, St Patrick's Day, at Buckingham Palace in London.Her father was Prince Arthur, Duke of Connaught and Strathearn, the third son of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha.
Patricia was born on 17 March 1886 at Buckingham Palace, the youngest of three children to Prince Arthur, Duke of Connaught, and Princess Louise Margaret of Prussia, Duchess of Connaught. She was named Victoria for her paternal grandmother, Queen Victoria , and Patricia because she was born on St. Patrick’s Day.
Princess Patricia of Connaught had it all. She was beautiful, intelligent, athletic and artistic. She could have played the traditional role of a princess: dutifully marrying a prince or king in a match acceptable to both families; living a grand, rule-bound life in palaces and castles; and navigating the tumultuous political waves that were soon to crash over most of her relatives in Europe.
Daughter of Prince Arthur, Duke of Connaught (q.v.) and Princess Louise Margaret of Prussia (q.v.); in 1919 married Captain the Hon. Sir Alexander Robert Maule Ramsay, at which time she chose to relinquish her royal title and was afterwards known as Lady Patricia Ramsay. As an artist specialized in watercolours.
