Racine College Racine, Wisconsin- 1852-1933 By Arthur Ben Chitty* ¿(rrl HE JEWEL OF THE WEST"- Racine College- had every-I thing. it was off to a good start in a period of relative prosperity. It was begun by a group of distinguished clergy and laymen headed by Bishop Jackson Kemper. It had strong and generous local back-ing in Racine.
The DeKoven Center began as Racine College, founded and chartered in 1852. Racine College was developed by the Episcopal Church with Bishop Jackson Kemper being one of the founders.
