This category is for administrative regions of France.France is administratively divided into 18 administrative regions: 13 of these are in metropolitan France (one of them, Corse, is on the island of Corsica, although strictly speaking Corse is in fact a “territorial collectivity”, not a région, but is referred to as a région in common speech), 5 are overseas regions.

Most of them are both non-official and traditional as regions often use their logos as a flag though some regions used the banner ol flags.
29 climate regions (Météo-France – 2020) In 2020, Météo-France is also publishing a map showing a breakdown into 29 climatic regions, taking into account the many factors that can influence climate on a regional scale, such as latitude, altitude, distance from the sea or major mountain ranges, etc. [54]
Five overseas regions (régions d'outre-mer, or ROM): Guadeloupe, French Guiana, Martinique, Mayotte, and Réunion, with identical status to metropolitan regions. Each of these overseas regions also being an overseas département (département d'outre-mer, or DOM), with the same status as a département of metropolitan France.
Source gives area of metropolitan France as 551,500 km2 (212,900 sq mi) and lists overseas regions separately, whose areas sum to 89,179 km 2 (34,432 sq mi). Adding these give the total shown here for the entire French Republic.
