Regnier Gemma Frisius (Dokkum, Frisia, 9 de diciembre de 1508 - Lovaina, Brabante, 25 de mayo de 1555) fue un astrónomo y matemático neerlandés, famoso por su habilidad en la construcción de instrumentos de medida y por las teorías que elaboró, que fueron de ayuda a la navegación marítima.
Gemma Frisius (/ ˈ f r ɪ z i ə s /; born Jemme Reinerszoon; December 9, 1508 – May 25, 1555) was a Dutch physician, mathematician, cartographer, philosopher, and instrument maker. He created important globes , improved the mathematical instruments of his day and applied mathematics in new ways to surveying and navigation .

He was born Regnier Gemma and only adopted the name Frisius when he later became a scholar for, like many scholars from his country, he adopted a Latin version of his name.

Médico, matemático, astrónomo e instrumentista holandés, llamado Frisius (el Frisón), nacido en Dokkum, Holanda, el 8 de diciembre de 1508 y muerto en Lovaina, Bélgica, el 25 de mayo de 1555. Estudió medicina en Lovaina, ciudad donde ejerció su profesión y en cuya Facultad de medicina fue profesor.
