Hace 3 días · Thomas Cromwell ( / ˈkrɒmwəl, - wɛl /; [1] [a] c. 1485 – 28 July 1540), briefly Earl of Essex, was an English statesman and lawyer who served as chief minister to King Henry VIII from 1534 to 1540, when he was beheaded on orders of the king, who later blamed false charges for the execution.

Hace 5 días · He died suddenly at his chambers in Lincoln's–Inn, Feb. 21, 1667/8 and lies interred under the chapel there, with this inscription: " Here lyeth the body of John Thurleo, Esq; Secretary of State to the Protector Oliver Cromwell, and a member of this honourable Society. He died Feb. 21, 1667.

John died on 20 March following, when the manors passed to his son William, aged five, whose wardship was granted in 1547 to William Clerc, the king's servant.
