  1. Richard Francis Gombrich (/ ˈ ɡ ɒ m b r ɪ tʃ /; born 17 July 1937) is a British Indologist and scholar of Sanskrit, Pāli, and Buddhist studies. He was the Boden Professor of Sanskrit at the University of Oxford from 1976 to 2004. He is currently Founder-President of the Oxford Centre for Buddhist Studies.

  3. Gombrich's main research has been into the anthropology and the early history of Buddhism, publishing ten books and over 100 articles.
