Richard Harris nació en Limerick (Irlanda) el 1 de octubre de 1930. Hijo de un comerciante de harina, pronto supo que su vocación era interpretar. Ingresó en la Academia de Música y Arte Dramático de Londres allá por los años 50, década en la que trabajó en numerosas obras de teatro.
