Born 10 June 1885, eldest son of the 3rd Baron Raglan and Ethel Jemima Ponsonby, daughter of the 7th Earl of Bessborough. The 4th Lord Raglan succeeded to the title in 1921 as the great-grandson of the 1st baron who received the title in 1852 when Commander-in-Chief of the British Forces in the Crimea.
28 de abr. de 2022 · As he left no children, the title passed on Lord Raglan's death to: Richard Henry Fitzroy Somerset, 2nd Baron Raglan (1817–1884), the second son. He was in turn succeeded by his son George Fitzroy Henry Somerset, 3rd Baron Raglan. The family seat is Cefntilla Court, Llandenny in Monmouthshire. A inscription over the porch there dated 1858 reads:
FitzRoy Richard Somerset, heir to the title of Baron Raglan, was born on 10 June 1885 to George Fitzroy Henry Somerset, 3rd Baron Raglan and his wife Lady Ethel Jemima Ponsonby. He was educated at Sandroyd School , Eton and the Royal Military College, Sandhurst , and received a commission as Second lieutenant in the Militia regiment the Royal Monmouthshire Royal Engineers on 10 June 1902. 24 de may. de 2019 · Richard Henry FitzRoy Somerset, 2nd Baron Raglan was a British peer. The second son of the 1st Baron Raglan, Somerset was born in Paris and educated at Christ Church, Oxford. He came to Ceylon with Sir Colin Campbell as his Private Secretary and was subsequently taken into the Ceylon Civil Service in 1841.
As he left no children, the title passed on Lord Raglan's death to: Richard Henry Fitzroy Somerset, 2nd Baron Raglan (1817–1884), the second son. He was in turn succeeded by his son George Fitzroy Henry Somerset, 3rd Baron Raglan. The family seat is Cefntilla Court, Llandenny in Monmouthshire.
