What he came to witness were as yet only the beginnings of expansion into the future great Douglas Marcher satrapy, although the lordship of Liddesdale itself would in due course be handed to Bruce’s bastard son, Sir Robert, whose death would come in battle at Dupplin Moor in 1330 at the hands of the ‘disinherited’, some of whom may have been involved in the 1320 plot.
