  4. Robert Ellice died before 1661, and was succeeded by his son PETER ELLICE (died 1719), who became a J.P. and deputy-steward of Bromfield and Yale. Extensive rebuilding forced him to mortgage the estate bit by bit, until by 1750 it had passed into the hands of the mortgagees.

  5. It is a trust will but the executors and trustees are identical, viz. Inglis two sons John Bellingham and James, and two sons-in-law. Administration was granted to Robert Ellice in July 1834. Inglis Ellice had failed in 1823, and assignees were appointed. The assignees announced the intention to appoint trustees.
