  3. The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, commonly known simply as Sandhurst, is one of several military academies of the United Kingdom and is the British Army's initial officer training centre.

The archives contain records of the academy and its predecessors; the Royal Military College Sandhurst 1799-1939 and the Royal Military Academy Woolwich 1741-1939. It also maintains the archive of the current academy which was established in 1947.

  5. The latter was established by royal warrant in 1802 at Great Marlow, largely as a result of the efforts of Colonel J.G. Le Marchant and General Francis Jarry, an exiled French officer, who had organized a training school for officers at High Wycombe in Buckinghamshire three years earlier. The Royal Military College was moved to Sandhurst in 1812.
