Hace 6 días · The Russian Orthodox Church held a privileged position in the Russian Empire, expressed in the motto, Orthodoxy, Autocracy, and Nationality, of the late Russian Empire. It obtained immunity from taxation in 1270, and was allowed to impose taxes on the peasants.
19 de mar. de 2024 · Since the Russian Revolution there has been much turmoil and administrative conflict within the Orthodox church. In western Europe and in the Americas, in particular, overlapping jurisdictions have been set up, and political passions have led to the formation of ecclesiastical organizations without clear canonical status.

Orthodox Christianity, together with Islam , Buddhism , and Paganism (either preserved or revived ), are recognised by Russian law as the traditional religions of the country, part of its "historical heritage".
