t. e. Swan Lake (Russian: Лебеди́ное о́зеро, romanized: Lebedínoje ózero, IPA: [lʲɪbʲɪˈdʲinəjə ˈozʲɪrə] listen ⓘ ), Op. 20, is a ballet composed by Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky in 1875–76. Despite its initial failure, it is now one of the most popular ballets of all time.

Misc. Notes Typically inserted directly in Act III after No.20, if used at all; scored for solo violin and orchestra. This number was probably first issued in the 1895 printing of the full score, where it appeared as a supplement, along with Drigo's orchestrations of three Op.72 piano pieces used in the 1895 revival.
The prince has dreamed himself into the world of the legend of the “Swan Lake”. Horrified, he must look on as Von Rothbart the sorcerer casts a spell on a young girl, Odette, turning her into a swan. The day of the engagement, to be opulently celebrated at court, has arrived. A garden party is held in the morning in the castle’s park.
