Sidney Godolphin, 1st Earl of Godolphin, KG, PC (15 June 1645 – 15 September 1712) was an English Tory politician and peer. He was a Privy Councillor and Secretary of State for the Northern Department before he attained real power as First Lord of the Treasury.
Sidney Godolphin, 1st Earl of Godolphin (baptized June 15, 1645, Breage, Cornwall, Eng.—died Sept. 15, 1712, St. Albans, Hertfordshire) was a British politician and administrator who did much to stabilize British financial administration during the 20 years after the Glorious Revolution of 1688.
