[30] During the late 1960s, the University of Sydney was at the centre of rows to introduce courses on Marxism and feminism at the major Australian universities.

Hace 4 días · Among the architectural features in the College grounds, Trinity Bridge over the river, W. of New Court, was rebuilt to the designs of James Essex in 1764–5. The cost, £1,500, was defrayed from a bequest of Dr. Hooper, whose arms it bears. The materials from the old bridge of 1651–2 were used in the substructure.
Hace 5 días · In 1595 the site of the Grey Friars had been leased for the foundation of Sidney Sussex College. In 1607 James I sought to secure more assuredly the privileges of Westminsters at Trinity granted by Elizabeth I, and met with resistance. This was not substantially successful and the Westminster infusion grew stronger in the 17th century.

Hace 3 días · St. Catharine's College (fn. 1) was founded by Robert Woodlark (or Wodelarke), Provost of King's College, on St. Catharine's day, 25 November 1473. Until 1860 it was known as Catharine Hall. The site was the north-west of the present court, and the front faced Milne Street, now Queens' Lane.
