Solomon II , of the Bagrationi Dynasty, was the last King of Imereti from 1789 to 1790 and from 1792 until his deposition by the Imperial Russian government in 1810.
In Georgia, one of the kingdoms that resisted Russian expansionism was the Kingdom of Imereti. The last king, Solomon II, lost his fight against the Russians in 1810 and was imprisoned in Tbilisi for a while, then took refuge in the Ottoman Empire, and tried to continue his struggle for independence from abroad and sought international support.
In 1789, King Heraclius II of Georgia sent his army into Imereti and helped David-Solomon to expel David II into Akhaltsikhe in the Ottoman -held Georgian province.
