Sophie de Mecklenburg-Güstrow ( 4 septembrie 1557 – 14 octombrie 1631) a fost nobilă germană și, prin căsătorie, regină a Danemarcei și Norvegiei. A fost mama regelui Christian al IV-lea al Danemarcei. A fost regentă a ducatului Schleswig-Holstein în perioada 1590–94.

Gustav Adolph was born at the ducal residence in Güstrow, the son of Duke John Albert II and his third wife Eleonore Marie (1600–1657), daughter of Prince Christian I of Anhalt-Bernburg . As Gustav Adolph was a minor when his father died in 1636, his uncle Duke Adolph Frederick I of Mecklenburg-Schwerin at first became regent at Güstrow.

From 1608 to 1611, he was the nominal ruler of Mecklenburg-Schwerin; the actual ruler being the regent, his great-uncle Charles I. From 1611 to 1621 John Albert and his brother Adolf Frederick I jointly ruled the whole Duchy of Mecklenburg.
