Some history about the Spandau Citadel. The first construction work to build the citadels began in 1557, and only a few years later (1620) Spandau was rebuilt with ramparts and the fortress became a citadel. In 1691 an explosion destroyed the Crown Prince’s Bastion, which was rebuilt the following year.
