1860s. Relocated main campus to Garnethill in 1866 with a roll of 70 and rising. Jesuits focused on enhancing the College’s reputation as the educational institution of choice for Catholics in Glasgow. 1870s. Numbers increased significantly in the late 1870s, largely thanks to Head Master Fr Francis Bacon SJ. Early 1890s.

Past and present students, staff and parents gathered at St Joseph’s Highgate to give thanks on the 140 th anniversary of St Aloysius College at a Mass celebrated by Bishop Nicholas Hudson. The school was founded in 1879 by the Brothers of Our Lady of Mercy on the site in Hornsey Lane, Highgate, where it still stands.
