Hace 5 días · The Lower Ward holds St George's Chapel and most of the buildings associated with the Order of the Garter. On the north side of the Lower Ward is St George's Chapel. This huge building is the spiritual home of the Order of the Knights of the Garter and dates from the late 15th and early 16th century, designed in the Perpendicular Gothic style.

Hace 13 horas · St George’s Chapel was founded by Edward III and grandly rebuilt in the reign of Edward IV, but sometimes we can overlook the contributions made by the kings that came between them. One of these is Richard II, who came to the throne unexpectedly at the age of ten after the deaths of his father, Edward Prince of Wales, in 1376 and his grandfather, Edward III, in 1377.

23 de abr. de 2024 · Garter Day traditionally takes place in June at St George's Chapel in Windsor - the wedding venue of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex - as St George is the Order's patron saint. It was not held in 2020 or 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
