  2. St Mary’s School was established in 1872 in Paddington, then a relatively wealthy area of London, by the Anglican Foundation of The Sister of the Community of St. Mary the Virgin, Wantage. It was one of the earliest establishments to reflect changing Victorian attitudes to the education of women.

  4. The Community of St Mary the Virgin (CSMV) is an Anglican religious order based at Wantage in Oxfordshire, England. It was founded in 1848 by the vicar of Wantage, the Reverend William John Butler and is one of the oldest surviving religious communities in the Church of England .

  6. The school was at first dedicated to St Katharine, but was known as 'St Mary's School for the daughters of the clergy and others' after Miss Neale left Brighton and it transferred to the Community of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The school closed in 1910
