Anna was the heiress of Frederick III, the last Count of Veldenz from the Hohengeroldseck family, and his wife Margaret of Nassau-Saarbrücken. In 1409, she married to Stephen, Count Palatine of Simmern-Zweibrücken, thereby bringing the County of Veldenz into the possession of the Dukes of Palatinate-Zweibrücken.

He was the son of Louis I, Count Palatine of Zweibrücken and Johanna of Cro. In 1478 in Zweibrücken he married Amalie of Brandenburg (1461–1481), daughter of Albert III Achilles, Elector of Brandenburg. Amalie died shortly before her twentieth birthday. They had no children.
En 1410, Stephen se casó con Ana de Veldenz, quien murió en 1439. Después de la muerte del padre de Ana en 1444, Esteban también ganó el control de Veldenz y de la parte Veldenz de Sponheim .
