Growing older, Winston passed the age of in-home learning and moved toward boarding school. During his childhood education, Churchill maintained a poor academic record. He attended three schools: St. George’s School in Berkshire; Brunswick School (since renamed Stoke Brunswick School) in Hove; and Harrow School.
In answer to Mr. Porter’s query, Brunswick School is still extant and proud of its connection with WSC. The school moved from Haywards Heath to a large country house, Dutton-Homestall, in Ashurst Wood, West Sussex in 1958. It was joined by Stoke House, formerly at Seaford, in 1963. It is now called Stoke Brunswick.

A large co-educational school, Stoke Brunswick School was an independent boarding school based in West Sussex, East Grinstead. The oldest part of the building dates back to the 14th Century built in a Tudor style and was the hunting lodge belonging to John of Gaunt, the third son of Kind Edward III.

It began when I was ten and the six weeks I spent one summer at the now defunct Stoke Brunswick School, in East Grinstead, England.
