Stubbington House School [1] was founded in 1841 as a boys' preparatory school, originally located in the Hampshire village of Stubbington, around 1 mile (1.6 km) from the Solent. Stubbington House School was known by the sobriquet "the cradle of the Navy". [2] .

28 de dic. de 2023 · Scott was sent to the Stubbington House school as a young boy to prepare for a Naval career of his own. He passed his entrance exams and boarded the HMS Britannia in 1881 at the age of just 13. A shy but steady and courageous young man, Scott spent the next two decades rising in the ranks on numerous Navy expeditions around the world — from midshipman in 1883 to lieutenant in 1897.

Stubbington House, an attractive Queen Anne building which sat in the position now occupied by the tennis courts, was demolished in 1967. Two of the buildings associated with the school are still in use - the assembly hall is used by the scouts and the Community Centre incorporates a classroom block.
15 de dic. de 2012 · A Memory of Stubbington. I never went to Stubbington House School, however, I have lived in Stubbington for 70 years. I loved the buildings and the daffodils on the front lawn, the walled kitchen garden on the corner of Bells Lane; the school was almost self sufficient with a dairy and kitchen garden surrounded by high walls in Bells Lane.
