Torsvollur (Tórsvøllur) was built to provide the Faroe Islands with a new modern national stadium. It replaced Svangaskarð as the home of the Faroe Islands national team. Torsvollur officially opened on 9 July 1999 with a friendly between the Faroe Islands national team and Danish side Aalborg.
