Poet, critic. Thomas Ernest Hulme ( / hjuːm /; 16 September 1883 – 28 September 1917) was an English critic and poet who, through his writings on art, literature and politics, had a notable influence upon modernism. [1] He was an aesthetic philosopher and the 'father of imagism'. [2]

1883–1917. Though not as prolific as several of his contemporaries, English poet T.E. Hulme’s influence in shaping 20th-century thought in art and literature is indisputable. He was best known for the position of leadership he held in the group of poets and philosophers known as the Imagists.
