Tamar era la nuera de Judá, hijo de Jacob. La historia de Tamar se hizo conocida en la Biblia principalmente por la trama de la relación con su suegro, y por haber engendrado al nieto de Jacob que dio origen al estirpe de David y asimismo del Señor Jesucristo (Génesis 38 ).
