One of his colleagues imprisoned with him in the 1860s, Henry Mactier Warfield, named his fifth son Teackle Wallis Warfield. He in turn in 1896 named his daughter Bessie Wallis Warfield. She later became famous as Wallis Simpson, Duchess of Windsor. Legacy Statue of Wallis in Baltimore
Wallis's father was Teackle Wallis Warfield, the fifth and youngest son of Henry Mactier Warfield, a flour merchant, described as "one of the best known and personally one of the most popular citizens of Baltimore", who ran for mayor in 1875. Her mother was Alice Montague, a daughter of stockbroker William Latane Montague.

When the Warfields returned to Baltimore, Teackle Wallis’s health continued to decline, and by November he was dead. His baby daughter and widowed wife were then invited to move into the Warfield family home at 34 East Preston Street. [1] Wallis grew up among the elite of Baltimore society.
