Hace 1 día · At its inception, the abbey stood in the see of Worcester; but its position was transformed at the Dissolution of the monasteries. Following abolition, Henry VIII created the new Diocese of Gloucester and on 3 September 1541, the abbey church became its cathedral, with John Wakeman, last abbot of Tewkesbury, as its first bishop.
