Reed's distinctive deadpan voice, poetic and transgressive lyrics, and experimental guitar playing were trademarks throughout his long career.

Reed penned the track, and when he was working on his groundbreaking Coney Island Baby album, he decided to re-release the song as a solo artist.

I felt like, and still feel like, the 1969 Velvet Underground Live double album is sort of the sonic and aesthetic median of all their releases.
